Mariah the Scientist’s “United Nations” Deserved to Stand Alone

Mariah the Scientist cover art for “United Nations + 1000 Ways to Die”

After seeing a conspiracy theory about why the audio of Young Thug and Mariah the Scientist’s phone call was released, I had to listen to Mariah the Scientist “United Nations”. After an theroy like that it only left me wondering what kind of impact this song could have.

So, this morning, I gave it a listen. United Nations is absolutely beautiful. But it’s combined with 1000 Ways to Die, which completely shifts the vibration of the listening experience. I listen to my music and feel the words. Lyricism is something I am very peculiar of.

Naturally on my third listen, I focused solely on the lyrics. Mariah begins with wisdom from an introspective standpoint, walking us through the heaviness of a weakened heart begging for peace — for the world and for herself. She calls the world to action, even gives us the recipe: humility, peace, love, and patience.

Then the mood flips. What follows is the nightmare of a woman who cannot follow what she preaches. Because to give peace to others, you must first have it for yourself. 1000 Ways to Die plays like a horror story called love — willing to put another before self, which is treason. Hence the title: 1000 ways to kill herself, 1000 ways trying to love someone who doesn’t love you.

The twisted thing? The enjoyment of suffering. Admitting to wanting control over someone, when the truth is you can only control yourself.

It makes me wonder if her label forced these songs to be paired together. Because if United Nations dropped as a solo record, it would be on playlists worldwide. She has the voice, and she knows how to use words to make you feel emotion deeply. Not to mention the woman has the ability to seduce all. But the message she is promoting is not one of value. I seen a few of her fans dismiss her questionable actions staying beside Young Thug due to how attractive she is.

I’d love to listen again, but honestly, it takes effort to cut the track off before the other song starts. My ears are too sensitive to that kind of sunken vibration.

And I have to admit — the conspiracy speaker had a point. I looked up the dates: United Nations released August 22. The leaked video of her and Thug’s conversation surfaced September 4. Why wasn’t it released with the first set of videos? That timing feels strategic.

Directly from yours truly,

Kayhla

Side note: Mariah should’ve left after the first set of leaks. Now she just looks even more foolish.
